BleepingComputer.com: Computer Wont Start

I was changing the water in my water cooler and a little of it hit my mother board so I dried it off. When I say little I mean little. I pressed and held the power button to manually turn the computer off as at the time the computer was starting up and I remembered that I left the cap off and the water would have splashed everywhere after about a minute of holding nothing happened so I unplugged the computer. After plugging it back in nothing happened. The computer will not start. Nothing happens when I press the power button.

This is only computer it has alot important stuff on it so I need to get it back up and running again. Can anyone help?

I'm sorry to say that you have probably fried your motherboard, and if you cannot replace it yourself, or get someone else to do it, you will probably need to buy a new computer.

About getting the data off of the hard disk, what you will need to do is pull the hard disk from the broken computer, and set the jumpers to the correct positions (set to master or single if placing on a IDE cable alone, slave if placing on a cable with other drive), and put it in another computer to get the data off.

Question: Why did you have the computer open and the motherboard exposed while you were changing the water cooler anyways?

Yeah i know how to get the data off the hard drive how ever i dont have another pc to do it with at the moment. as for why the case was open, its because its a junky dell case and leaving it open is the only was i can fit the hoses in.
