Too many fonts on your system can slow performance down. especially in Office programs. i used to have about 1,500 but reduced it down to 50 and has made a difference.

if you want to keep all fonts you have, copy them to a disc then when you want them just ad it to your font folder, when your finnished take it out.

Aren't there some windows fonts that should not be deleted? Does anyone know which ones can and can not be deleted?

Yes you would have several fonts that is installed with windows.
unfortunately it's hard to know which ones. If you know which ones you have installed just remove those ones. i accidently removed a few from office 2003 and when i open a program an installation began to re-install them.

ANyone know where i can get these 2 fonts from...

In order to keep everyone else from running across the same problem as you have. There needs to be some detailed info. posted here. Concerning which ones can be safely deleted. This would of been a great tip, had this been done. As the topic starter maybe you could do a little research. Unless someone wants to jump in and help with this. I do not have the time.

It is more important to know which fonts you CANNOT uninstall:
http://www.edutech.nodak.edu/windows_tips/...elete_fonts.htm

MS provides lists of "system fonts" that are necessary to keep:
http://www.microsoft.com/typography/fonts/default.aspx

Again, another source lists these:

Arial,
Bookman
Book Antiqua
Century Gothic
Comic Sans MS
Courier
Garamond
Georgia,
Haettenschweiler,
Impact,
Lucida,
Microsoft Sans,
Modern,
Monotype,
MS Outlook,
MS Sans Serif,
Palatino Linotype,
Roman, Script,
Small Fonts,
Symbol,
Tahoma,
Times New Roman,
Trebuchet, Verdana
Webdings, Wingdings

http://www.ababasoft.com/fonter/font01.html

Regards,
John

Note, do not delete any variants of the fonts listed, either.

Thanks,scarlett; I aims to please.
While fonts take some HD space, and effect boot speed, I think reviewing and deleting them does not produce much "bang for the buck," and you never know when some PDF document will need some strange font. On the other hand, I never ADD fonts.
Cheers,
John

Same here I have never seen the need to add any additional fonts. Although I most likely have way more than I need. My system lists 251. Of course these include some variations of the select few. I think that I will leave them be. As you have said. You never know. Do you.

THanks for the list of the fonts. Now i see why when i deleted some my office wanted to install additional features. Now i have the list and go back to Standard fonts i have reduced my fonts my heap as i had 1500 of them. i have a disc with them because i was unable to view them i just installed the lot. Now once i delete the that are noe Windows & Office etc. i will go through them and just add a couple that i want like...

Andy
Miu (Got to find a copy of that one yet)
POOH (Got to find a copy of that one yet)

Those 3 are nice.
i wouldn't mind that comercial script BT either. but it's on and older version.

that's all i want. but thanks.

Almost all printed text I have ever taken the time to read has used one of twenty or so fonts. Many readers would find the use of exotic fonts distracting. Many of the plethora of fonts were originally designed so typefaces could fit a printed page, and produce a clear text given the kinds of presses used.
Regards,
John.

Chances are that it is not a "font" at all, but a custom design. If you are brave, there are many free font designer applications out there that allow you to create your own.

Hi I've downloaded quite a few extra fonts because of using PSP7, but I was advised by other psprs to keep a folder with the extra fonts, as they would get used as and when required in psp without causing too much problems on the HD. I've found its quite a handy tip. I've got about 20-30 different fonts in my usage folder in my psp, and can call up on a new font whenever I want it. Whether or not this same system would work with normal windows fonts, and extras I'm afraid I can't comment. The experts would probably know about that. I'm only a techno thicko still learning
Cheers,
John

Try this site Izzy. It's pretty self explanatory and may help you identify the font you're after. It involves uploading a pic of the font, in your case, a bit of the Album cover. Anyway, have a squizzy izzy (hehe) and see if it helps.
