Strange Word Edititng In Office Word one word edited - all the words edited

hello

i wanted to ask, if any one knows whats wrong with my office Word 2002. it is doing one strange operation all the time, when i click to modify one word, like changing the font or color, it changes all the words in text. not only one, but all of them in this document.
any suggestions?

Does this also happen when you highlight one word and rightclick?

hi john

yes, whatever i try to edit one word, it changes all the words. i have to click on go back button to keep only that word edited.
never seen before.
