had my computer disconnected so i could check the settings on a different tower. when i hooked my tower back up i just get a loud continuous beep and when i check the LED's on the mb the lights indicate Checking CMOS checksum and battery. According to the motherboard book. Could a faulty battery prevent the computer from booting?

The power to the video cord wasn't plugged in all the way, i had to remove the card to pull out the hold HD i left in there. I found this out after i changed the battery already. Once i did change the battery however the system wouldn't start up till i went in and changed some features on the bios (?) all i did was reset the clock in there and now it seems to work fine. Is there anything else i was supposed to do in bios because of removing the battery?
