In general,

the Intel Core 2 Duo CPU will be faster than a same speed AMD 64 x2.

Other factors, such as the RAM, systemboard, HD, and video will affect overall performance, too.

Intel is truly kicking AMD's butt right now when it comes to gaming. Buy an Intel or an AMD, just make sure that the reviews written for it are good and try to find which one has a better price:performance ratio.

EDIT: BTW what is commit charge on my task manager?

The actual ram in use at this moment, the peak you have used, or the max you can use including the swap file.

AMD will be more reliable. Also, teh AMD is 64-bit (a TRUE 64-bit) and the Intel is only 32.
