Website Monitor Tracking traffic

Hi,
Does anyone know of a program or widget that I can have on my desktop to monitor the hit counter on my website.
I would prefer to have something small that updates regularly on the desktop than having to go to the page to check. Is this even possible? :thumbsup:

Thanks for the reply.
I already have a hit counter on my website. What I would like is something independent, like a widget, that I could have sitting on my desktop and it would monitor the hit counter instead of me having to go to the site to check. I thought I might be able to maybe use a .gif image and insert the code for the hit counter.

Do you mean you want a hit counter that is independent of your website?

Sure it's possible. I don't know of any specific programs that can do it, but depending on your programming ability and the loggin capabilities of your server, you could do a couple of different things. If your server logs distinct IPs that connect to the website, a simple script could be written to email the stats to you. or a script could be written that pings the server for stats, etc. There are any number of ways that it could be accomplished.

I just noticed that there were two other replies before mine. When I submitted mine, it was directly underneath DSTM's post.... weirdness.

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know how I got on with this.

I couldn't find anything to do what I wanted to do so I went with an online monitor that I can log into.
The program is OneStatFree. Available here http://www.onestatfree.com/
It monitors the visitor stats and page views, quite a comprehensive report actually.
