Hey, I just recently updated my AVG Free Edition Anti-Virus and had to reboot as a result for the update to take effect. Well, now I got a problem. In the control center, it states that the anti-virus component cannot be detected. That and my Resident Shield is not loaded. Any thoughts/suggestions?

Double click on the Resident Shield. Under the Properties tab that should appear, is "Turn on Resident Shield Protection" checked? Have you tried updating the definitions a second time?

John

Hi Venek,

If that doesn't work, you may have do an uninstall/reinstall.
Have a look at this thread in the AVG Free Forum.

TMack, that did the trick, thanks. Looks like I wasn't the only one with the problem.

igweed, the entire properties of Resident Shield was grayed out, I couldn't select anything, but ran a repair installation, and it's fine now, but thanks for the input.
