I have been following the instructions given on the preparation guide page in order to clear my computer of problems I have encountered. Although it is much better I am still having some problems so I am attempting to create a hijackthis log. What is happening is I have downloaded the program and I can get to the part where it says unzip(which I do) and then click on OK and then close.

Going on to the next step in the guide where it tells me to click on the desktop icon and then "do a system check and save a logfile" what happens is all I get is the same box as before where I have the option to unzip. I have done it several times and each time it says it's complete, but nothing else will come up when I click on the icon. Not sure what i am doing wrong.

I am operating Windows XP on a Dell Dimension 3000 with Sygate and Avast antivirus installed.

Edit: Thanks anyway I located it in my files and created a shortcut to my desktop.
