Ok, so I've been talking to my buddy who runs a moderately succesful website. He's making a decent chunk of cash on his website because he has advertisers advertise there. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could get advertisers to advertise on my website so i could get in on this as well.

The short answer, which may sound sort of cheeky, is to actually have content that draws people to the website. One you have a demonstrable user base, then advertisers are easier to appraoach. They are not going to pay for advertising on a site that doesn't draw any visitors.

Not likely. It is more reasonable to expect that you will have to approach them. Of course, you can look at affiliate advertising programs offered by Google, Yahoo, etc.
