I stumbled upon a really nifty and knarly freeware app the other day: POP Peeper

This little app will sit in your tray and periodically check your e-mail from any number of accounts. According to the webist, the program supports Hotmail\MSN\LiveMail, Yahoo, Mail.com, MyWay, Excite, Lycos.com, RediffMail, Juno and NetZero accounts. When a new message arrives, you get a notification and can read, reply and compose messages all from within the program.

I've been using this for quite a while now and I love it also! The tray icon even has a little flag on the mailbox that waves when you've got new mail. smile.gif I used to use MailWasher, but this seems much better IMO.

Here's how to do a Yahoo! Account (and you can have as many as you like!)

First, click the Accounts menu, then click Add:

This will open the New Accounts Wizard. Click Create Single Account:

Enter your whole Yahoo e-mail address, then click Next:

Now, give your new account a name. Any name will do, but make it descriptive so you know which account it is. Make sure the Server Type is set to Yahoo, and change the color if you want, click next:

Enter your full e-mail address as the login name as well as your Yahoo password, click next:

Now just click Finish and you're done!

there is another way to do it to - especially with yahoo
change your location to ASIA - then enable POP access and voila - no third party apps necessary.

go to mail
then options
then account information
then EDIT your member information
change the preferred content to YAHOO ASIA

then back to OPTIONS
then to POP and forwarding
select the web and pop access

I learned of this info on ypopsemail.com (also a third party app that lets you d/l pop info to a mail client!)

I see this is an older thread. For anyone using POP Peeper, does this mean you're logged on all the time to your email addresses? I'm not quite sure how that works.

No. What it does is periodically log into your account and check for new messages. The default is every 10 minutes.
