I have a friend/client who gave me his external drive where he backs up his main drive. He backed up his computer and then due to a massive crash a few days later, had to reformat and reinstall Windows XP. He's dropped off his hard drive and asked me to see if I can just pull his Outlook Express Address Book off the backup. I told him I would try.

Is there a way to locate and just pull off the Address Book? If so, how?

I'm not an expert, so some hand-holding would be great.

Thanks,
Michael

Search the drive for any files ending in .wab. Open the search application and type *.wab and choose the drive you want to search from. That should find the Address book you are looking for.

Probably not. What application did you use to create the backup file? Was it the windows app or a different one?

The app used (by my client) was Windows Backup.

Thanks,
M
