Hi, first of all, thank you to anyone who responds...

I am using Microsoft Windows 2000, 5.00.2195, Service Pack 4. I have a number of anti-virus/spyware programs, but I notice my primary one, Ewido, does not open. Also, my task manager will open, then instantly close before I can press anything.

I have had a lot of problems in the past with adware, trojan horses, and after recently running Spybot S&D, I was surprised to see several of the problems have the format:

Windows Security Center.AntivirusDiableNotify
Windows Security Center.AntivirusOverride
Windows Security Center.FirewallDisableNotify
Windows Security Center.FirewallOverride
Windows Security Center.SP2Update
Windows Security Center.TaskManager
Windows Security Center.UpdateDisableNotify
Windows.System

Needless to say, I am worried, and I don't think this is good news here. Thank you for your time!

Adam

Hi Adam Lisowsky,

Welcome to BleepingComputer Forums and thanks again for your patience.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but, your log shows the very dangerous WORM_SDBOT.CTQ
which has backdoor capabilities. It opens various ports and acts as an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) bot that connects to a remote IRC server. It then joins a specific IRC channel, where it listens for commands from a remote malicious user. The said commands are executed locally on the affected machine, providing virtual control to the remote malicious user. It is possible that the remote attacker has added multiple backdoors and/or accounts or even rooted the computer.
Read the above link for more information.

I would counsel you to disconnect this PC from the Internet immediately. If you do any banking or other financial transactions on the PC or it if it contains any other sensitive information, please get to a known clean computer and change all passwords where applicable and it would be wise to contact those same financial institutions to apprise them of your situation.

Install a firewall. There are several good ones and for free available:

Zonelabs
Kerio

Though the Trojan has been identified and can be killed, because of it's backdoor functionality, your PC is very likely compromised and there is no way to be sure your computer can ever again be trusted. Many experts in the security community believe that once infected with this type of Trojan, the best course of action would be a reformat and reinstall of the OS.

Visit the following sites for more information on internet theft and when to reformat!

Should you decide not to follow that advice, we will of course do our best to clean the computer of any infections that we can see but, as I already stated, we can in no way guarantee it to be trustworthy.

If you have any questions before to come to a final decision, please feel free to ask.

Please let me know your decision before doing anything.
