This site I came across mentions that there is a possiblity of Google coming out with a anti-virus sometime in the future.

Google’s anti-malware team has recently published a new blog , in which there are some hints about the companies ambitious drive to put a wall between malafide Websites and the End-Users.

If this were to happen, it would put the company up against McAfee’s SiteAdvisor, Trend Micro’s TrendProtect and Exploit Prevention Lab’s LinkScanner, three browser add-ons that slap graphical warning signs (red, yellow or green labels) next to search results.

Can't have too many good guys trying to foil the efforts of the bad guys, IMHO.

I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

Well they currently use someone's anti-virus program to automatically scan all gmail accounts for viruses (when you send an e-mail). From what I read a long time ago, it was current manufacturer of an anti-virus program. However, Google wouldn't let the company publicly state they are working with them on it. It could have been a joke, and Google has this entire time been working on their own. Who knows?

I personally use Linux, so I don't have to worry about viruses, unless I am downloading for a "fishy" source. If you use Windows, eh.. well Best of luck to you. It would be neat to see Google make one of Linux, which I don't see why not. They have a Linux version of almost everything else they make (except Gtalk).
