Help
i installed vista from my german installation cd and i cant seem to figure out how to change the system language to english (for example change "programme" to "program files"). Is this even possible or am i stuck with german?

You'll have to purchase the language pack for this. If you've got the Ultimate version (and a couple of the other high-end versions), you'll be able to download the language pack from Windows Update.

i have home premium, does that count as high end?

Don't think so - I believe it's only Ultimate and Enterprise, although Business may also qualify.

The answer is "No". You can try it yourself if you don't believe me. The menus and messages will remain in the default language of the DVD. The only way to change Home Edition is to buy a new DVD in the language you want.
Now my Mac, well, that's a breeze. I often change from French to Chinese to English and it is complete and correct. After I choose the language I want I just logout, login. Not even a restart is necessary. As a language teacher, I love this feature and on my budget, I love not having to pay extra. The DEFAULT installation of OS X (and there is only one "edition") has 15 languages. If you want to save drive space, you can uncheck as many as 14 of them at the time of installation.

The world is full of people who answer without knowing for sure they are right. The ´official´ answer is no, not without ultimate, but unofficially, check out vistalizator ' www.froggie.sk worked fine for me from english to spanish on 32bit sp1 vista home.
