BleepingComputer.com: Graphics Card Problem - Please Help =(

ok i have just bought a few bits now for my pc... some new ram, New motherboard, new PSU and new Graphics card...

Now, the graphics card i have bought is a Nvida Geforce 8600 GT

installed all bits etc, but no signal is going to the monitor, tried another monitor and the same.

Could anyone shed some light on this please?

What exactly happens when you start the computer?

As Mr Alpha stated we need to know what kind of computer your using, make and model if its a store bought or what components you have if its a custom built machine.. Be specific about model numbers when it comes to the Motherboard and Video (we already know the video). Also you upgraded your ram what kind did you get.. PC?? 2100, 3300, 6400? Or a DDR number is needed DDR333, DDR400 etc. Does the computer work with the old video card re-installed and the new ram? It could be that the new card is not set up properly.. And lastly if your upgrading from on board video to an after market graphics card you need to uninstall all the old drivers and disable the on board video in the bios menu and then install the new video card. Also download the latest driver from Nvidia when you get into windows

i fixed the problem with the no signal thing. 1 of the ram sticks must be faulty


now im getting a BSOD

=( i don't know anything about setting up a bios etc, maybe i have to do that? confusing =(

A STOP 0x7b error is an inaccessible boot device ( http://aumha.org/a/stop.php#0x7b ) This points at your hard drive not being recognized. Taken along with the bad stick of RAM, there may have been a static discharge problem. Did you unplug the computer from the wall when working inside the case? Did you ground yourself to the metal frame of the case while working inside of it?

I would check the connections for the hard drive to ensure that both connections are secure and correctly connected to both the hard drive and the motherboard. (BTW - what kind of hard drive is it? IDE or SATA?)

HD is a SATA, made my Maxtor i believe, in the Bios it shows it on there.

Connections checked and are in fine

Sata is in the SATA 1 socket on the motherboard.
DVD roms are in secondry IDE slot

Have you installed the operating system on the Hard drive?
Does the drive spin up when you start the system?
Can you boot to a bootable CD?
