Important Announcement: We have two terrific contests running on the site that I wanted all our members and guests to know about.

The first contest is the HP Magic Giveaway, which is underway as of November 28th. More information can be found at this topic, which will be updated very soon with further information.

The second contests, is for the chance to win two Seagate FreeAgent external hard drives. More information about this contest can be found here.

These are both amazing contests and I suggest everyone submit an entry for them.

I just did a complete wipe of my HDD. Now there is no formatting, and I cannot install DOS without having a method to format the drive. Are there any utilities that can allow me to boot and format the drive?

First of all MS-DOS 6.22 and below do not support Fat 32 File system.

Boot up your computer from the Dos installation floppy disk. Press F3 to exit the setup. It should take you to a command prompt. Type fdisk and press enter.

Create a primary DOS partition of any size that you want (nothing over 2Gb is supported.)

Restart the computer and boot up to the DOS setup screen.

It will ask to format the drive after you select where you want it installed.
