My daughter is about to graduate from high school. She is going to college in the fall. Her grandmother is going to buy her a laptop for her graduation. My daughter thinks she wants a Apple. She is more into graphics and art, she is not a number cruncher. I have never had anything but Pcs. I don't know anything about Apples. What are your thoughts?

Is the college she is going to attend recommending either an Apple or PC with specific software?

If so, it might be easier for her to go with their recommendation.

I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

Since most of the world uses windows I would go for it. If she even plans to use it for college she needs a windows. If the school wants you to use programs and they dont have it for apple then what would she do?

Mac and Linux both serve there purpose but just make sure they will work for your needs like stated above.

Dont make a 1500 dollar mistake.

Sorry Cowsgonemad but an apple computer can run windows, so if your main concern is windows you can still get a mac and still run MAC OS on it too if she is into graphic editing and stuff.

My opinion get an Apple and install windows on it too using Bootcamp.
