I'm Karind2 and I've never posted here before. I came to the sight when I was looking for a way to get rid of CWS_NSF and was so thankful there was a solution.
I want you all to know that this is one of the best information sites available for dealing with this kind of problem.
Kudos to the staff that maintain it, and many many thanks for all the help you've been.
Happy holidays to all

Hey everyone! I'm new as of tonight. I'm hoping this could help me with my computer problems. I am having MAJOR spyware problems. Mostly with "updmgr." Our spyware detector keeps removing it but it keeps coming back no matter what I do and I went on a website and it gave me a whole long list of files to delete and such. Anyone else having a problem with that specific spyware or at least know something about it that can help me get rid of it? Also, since I'm new I'm not sure where to post certain things... I know you aren't supposed to ask all kinds of questions and such in this forum, at least that is what the big box with bold letters is telling me. It says to post them in the appropriate forum, but I'm not really sure which that would be so could someone help me out with that? Pretty much all I wanna know is if anyone has any idea what "ovrimib" is and if it is a threat to my computer. I typed it into a google search and it found nothing so I'm not really sure about it. It recently showed up. Anyway, if anyone can help me with this or direct me to someplace that can I would really appreciate it! THANKS!

the girl, updmgr. need to be taken off your PC. Carefully, with others, too. Please follow these directions to help us to help you. We use a program that shows us likely places bad files exist, and from it we can guide you through the steps needed to clean your machine.

First create a new folder. A folder like c:\HJT. You can do it in about seven clicks(-->). Use your desktop -->StartButton-->My Computer-->Hard Disk Drive C:\-->File-->New-->Folder and name it HJT.

Next download HijackThis from: HijackThis Download Site. You should "save to disk".
Open the .zip folder and choose extract. Use the 'browse" and extract to the C:\HJT folder you made.
Doing it this way will let you use the backup/restore features that we may need later on.
Now, with the unzipped folder open, (double)click the icon hijackthis.exe to Run the program.
Next click on the Scan button and when it is finished click on the same button, which is now called Save Log.
A Notepad window will open with the contents of this log. Use the notepad toolbar --> Edit --> Select all --> Edit --> Copy.
The log will be saved until you right-click again.

Create a reply to this post by clicking "new topic button" at this link location. Right click in message area and select "paste" to paste the log into the post. When you see the log, then type in your comments to us about your particular problem. Please be patient with us, we are volunteers. We need time to study your individual log before we recommend doing a "fix procedure". Thanks for your cooperation.

Someone will reply to you after reading this post. DO NOT fix any entries unless you understand what you are doing.

Hi, George. I've been in your shoes. The problems we discuss here fall into different categories.
  • Hardware related
  • windows operating system problems
  • Security...malware related
  • Having to do with a particular program or application software
To name a few. The "Discussion Board" shows you the various sections where individual forums are grouped together when you scroll down the page. Any time you are anywhere, look to the typed line that says: BleepingComputer.com and click on it to get you back to the main discussion board "index". When you are in another section, this line will have additional words next to it.

Anything underlined will give you a new page (99% of the time) as they are hyperlinks.

Pages are the same way. Say you click-on and open "hijackThis logs analysis". Scroll to near the bottom & you'll see pages. Click 'em and navigate. Best advice is to pay attention to what individual posts are about (predominately) in any section and see if it's like your problem.

Hope this helps. Post again after experimenting a bit. It doesn't always come easy from my experience. :flowers:

You can also try opening more than one browser window so you don't limit yourself to one page at a time if that might help.
