I am in desperate need of help. I just bought a new HP Pavillion PC with Windows XP. I tried to install my old HP 1350 all in one printer but during software installation I kept getting the following error message during installation
------------------ error message-------------------------
MSI.DOCPROC - Fatal Error during installation. Error 1913 could not update the INI file C:\windows
/win.ini. Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I clicked on ok i got this second error message
------------------------ error message ---------------------------
c:\hpdisk\setup\hpzgat01.exe-gate cure-run hpzmisi01.exe - mdocproc
-I ENU - f C:\windows\hpoins04.dat - validate no - w1311470. Fatal Error during installation
---------------------------------------------------------------

I have now bought a new HP officejet J5750 all in one printer thinking there was a problem with my old one. But I am getting the same error messages. I've tried HP on line chat support several times but getting no where fast. Can anyone help me!! Here is what I have tried already

-------------------- I tried--------------------------
1. Uninstalling the software via some complicated methods
2. Tried running the software from my hard drive
3. Use some program to reset my registry keys
4. I located the win.ini files and I already checked the box to allow me to edit
5. I have rebooted my pc more times then I can remember

Can anyone help me. By the way I do have admin rights (at least I think I do)

I have an HP Pavillion a1657c PC
I am running Windows XP as my operating system
I am trying to install my new HP Officejet J5750 All-in-one printer

Thanks

I'd suggest removing all of the HP stuff from your system (may include a bit of directory diving and registry diving if needed).

Then, download the latest drivers from the HP website and install them.
