Can anyone tell me how I can get my print screen key to work? Nothing happens when I press it.

Ordinarily, under most hardware setups, you have to press the print screen button, then go into a graphics editing program, (eg. Paint) and then press Ctrl + V. The screen should come up in the window. This may vary, however, depending on the keyboard. If it dosent work, is there anymore writing on the button apart from Print Screen?

mooseifer, :flowers: to BC.
On mine I have to press Ctrl+PrtScn to get it to snap a screenshot and then transfer it into paint (or some other graphics program) as matt_com911 explains. With paint Ctrl+V is the shortcut for paste which is located in the edit menu along the top toolbar.

CTRL +Printscreen gives you a printscreen of your whole screen which you can paste into wordpad. ALT+Printscreen gives just the active window which you can also paste into wordpad.

After you hit Print Screen, you can't open it in a graphics program?
You don't mention, trying to open it in a graphics program.

Do you:
hit PrintScreen
open graphics program
then click Edit / Paste, or Ctrl+V

What graphics program do you use?
Do you get any kind of error message?

He might be thinking that hitting print screen will, well, print the screen. As you can see mooseifer, you have to transfer your screen capture to a graphics program and then print or save the picture from there.

mooseifer, press ctrl+prtscn at the same time. You should see your cursor blink, this means it has taken a snapshot of your screen and stored it into your clipboard. Now go to Start\All Programs and open your paint program. On the top toolbar in paint, select the edit menu and then select paste. This should put the screenshot you have just taken into paint. From here you may save or print the photo just like any other photo you may work on with paint. If you want to save the screenshot, select File\Save As and then to save you space, change the save as type from Bitmap to JPEG (the reason for this is because bitmaps are big files, jpeg's are rather small). Name your file and hit the save button.

Do you have an F Lock key on your keyboard? Press the F Lock key once and then try again.
