BleepingComputer.com: Ccapp.exe / Help Please! Very Frustrating

When shutting down, I get an error that ccApp is not responding. When I did a search on ccApp all the sites say it's part of Norton AV and should not be disabled.

Firefox will stop responding, sometimes I can't shutdown or restart, most times I just have to do a hard reboot.

I'm not sure if Norton ccApp is the problem but I sure could use some suggestions.

Someone suggested I take a look at the Registry, but I'm not skilled enough for that task.

I located that fix previously, but it does not say it covers Norton Internet 2007 which is what I have.

Give it a try. you're not going to hurt anything. It's just settings in the program. If 2007 does'nt have them you won't see them. If you're that worried, print out the instructions so you can retrace your steps to set it back. I'd try the second link first. A nice tool to clean all of your temp files is ATFCleaner

The easiest fix for Norton issues is to uninstall it and then reinstall it. That'll usually fix any problems that you run into (all too often with the Norton products IMO).

The easiest fix, is to get rid of that Norton crap and get your money back! That's what I did. I bought Norton 2007, and then my problems began. ccApp errors, etc. Then my machine picked up a slew of viruses that good 'ole Norton was supposed to protect me from. As a result of those viruses I discovered this site.

Best advice is get rid of it. You can search the net and find countless complaints with Norton. I should have consulted CNET before I bought it, then I would have known ahead of time. I typically use CNET before buying hardware or consumer electronics, but I just never thought about checking for reviews of software there. Check on CNET to see what users have to say about whatever anti virus program you might choose besides Norton. There are lots of reviews from novices and those in the know, it's helpful to read what they had to say.

Norton was really easy to get my money back from as well. J-U-N-K!

As much as I hate Norton - it's a good program designed for a specific purpose. It's designed to make all the decisions for you - and the cost of this is an (IMO) unnecessary degree of complexity in the program.

Unfortunately, because of this complexity, it doesn't react well to change that it doesn't expect - and consequently it'll give you problems. And, at best, it'll just take up a large amount of resources that you could otherwise be using.

As stated at the Norton Web site, my problem was the program attempts to scan the floppy drive at shut down. Like most I don't have a floppy connected, after I unchecked that option the issue stopped for me
