I recently noticed that my Stinger software was claiming to be out of date,I had difficulty in deciding which was the latest version at the Mcfee update site.
Has anyone the latest update covering this period from April 2006 to the present. This also raises the question are there better software programs.

2.60 was the last update. This particular tool is not updated very frequently. You could try using avast! Virus Cleaner tool which was updated a couple of weeks ago but these types of tools were created for specific infections so they are limited.

Using the Sysclean Package would be a better choice as its comprehensive and uses frequently updated definitions called Virus Pattern Files. Instructions with screenshots are here if you need them.
