I tried to do a search on the internet but got confusing answers....

Can anyone tell me how it works and is it true that it doesn't work on IMAP and why?

Thanks.

I don't have a Blackberry, and haven't studied their technology, but knew where there was some more information about push mail. Just a starter tip: pull mail is the way things have mostly been, in typical web browser email, for example. You "pull" your email in by clicking on a button. Push email is when the mail server initiates instead of the user. I'd try to say that last bit in a more normal way except there is more than one way in which it does that.

Here is an article that touches on your two main points being asked. I belive it gives a pretty good overview. IMAP IDLE: The best approach for 'push' email.
