For the stupid windows messenger, open ad remove programs, go to set windows access and defaults, click custom, find messenger, uncheck enable access to this program. go to ad remove windows components, uncheck the things that you dont want, click next, --wait until done-- click finish. I did this with msn, messenger, and they no longer run.
The name says it all -- 59 and holding permanently

**WARNING** Links I provide might cause brain damage

that sounds cool, they are gone. Thank you. What about windows media player 11? Any way to kick it to the curb? I have alternatives for viewing movie files and streaming them and it doesn't work but I can't uninstall it. I tried the steps on microsofts site, no luck.

solved my own problem! found the solution on another site, www.annoyances.com

Here is the procedure:
start
run
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\winnt\inf\wmp.inf,Uninstall
enter
done! no more crappy programs!
