Hi, I just recieved my free Vista upgrade today. I have a laptop which is an Acer Aspire 5610 series. I've done the Acer Upgrade Wizard which deleted all the Acer programmes and ran through all the system requirements then I loaded the Vista setup and I downloaded Upgrade advisor and that said everything was fine. I then continued to Install Vista. It all went fine untill the last step (I can't remember what it was something like completing upgrade) I saw it up to around 50% and then my laptop resarted and it had to reinstall XP. I repeated the install and the same happened.

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?

Thank-you

Is your laptop still under waranty? If so give the company a call with your problem. It could just be that it might need to be configured or replaced.

Try where you bought it from first. They'll let you know

Call the manufactuer of your laptop. (i.e. Dell, HP, etc.)

I've recently seen a lot of these problems. Some (very few) are solved by doing a "clean" install - but the majority require a lot of "wrestling" for a tech to get them to work.

I'd suggest contacting the company who manufactured the laptop and see if they have any advice.
