I Have a (wired) Linksys cable/DSL router which went bad. I returned it & got a new one, same thing. When I went to sign onto my windows me computer, I still could'nt get onto the internet. So, I took my sons computer & hooked it up & it worked fine, sons xbox works fine on the internet & so does the 3rd computer. I uninstalled the linksys PCI adapter card in the windows me computer & reinstalled it. It still won't go online. I can't release or renew the IP address on that computer either, the computer just hangs. The computer was working fine before the router blew & I bought the router & 10/100 etherfast PCI adapter the same time. Question is, can a bad router mess up a PCI adapter card or did both mess up the same time for some odd reason?
Thanks in advance.

Since the new router behaved just like the old router - it's likely that the old router wasn't defective. Since the only problem is with the ME computer - then the troubleshooting should start there. Since you've uninstalled/reinstalled the adapter, I'd suspect that PCI adapter hardware is the problem.

A new one cost's about $15 at BestBuy (cheaper online).
