I loved DOS 4.01 and the DOSSHELL. I used it till 2001 on one of my backup computer, an old 489sx20. Too bad the older OSs are neglected when the newer ones come out.
Personally I believe if freeware developer would keep making programs for 3.1, 9X, ME, NTx, and W2k many, including myself, would not need to move up to the next OS.
I personally believe the best windows program is Windows 2000Professional SP4.
But that is just my opinion.

I agree with you aklan many OS's die before they can reach maturity because the next big thing comes out but I think the XP/Vista change over is the start of a change away from that mind set

i also agree if programs were still made for older windows you wouldnt need to upgrade
i have a 486dx4 with 16mb ram that runs a few different windows
