The person I talked to from my isp said it could ping the ip address but can't force dns items. When I try to do a repair in Vista Ultimate I am getting a message that an installed layer service provider is malfunctioning. Suggests possibly uninstalling that LSP but says the program related to it might stop working. If anybody has an idea, I would be more than grateful. I don't know what to do. Thanks for any thoughts. |

The Error is likely reporting a service that is polling System Files (IE DLL's) that are corrupted. What this means is that, Vista has become corrupted. Possibly due to installing an Anti Virus Program incorrectly.
A number of things can cause that. Further, when installing Applications on that DUAL BOOT machine. make certain XP Software is installed on the XP Side and Vista Compatable software is on the VISTA Side. You Should back up DATA and attempt re-installing VISTA. |

1) Try this, it's a known issue. Pinging from the ISP side doesn't count. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233

Solved problem with the help of Jaycee. I went into ipconfig and flushed the DNS. It worked like a charm and I am back on line. Everything is working perfectly. I don't know what I would have done without this site.
This is better than an elevated assistance from Verizon Broadband Service. Sat with them last night for 2 hours and couldn't get it corrected. The "support specialist" (?) had no knowledge of Vista and really didn't know how to correct the problem. Anyway, that is one less problem and a lesson well learned. IF YOU DUEL BOOT, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DELETE VISTA FILES FROM THE XP SIDE. YOU WILL CREATE HAVOC!! Lesson learned!! |
