The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\WINDOWS\system32\HHCTRL.OCX occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contaced for a new DLL. does anyone know what this means? Thx in advance. |

I had the same message after the last update from MSN.
I restored the pc system to an anterior date and now I'm ignoring the return of this update invitation until I find out more about this problem. I've only read about a couple of occurrences and no 'explanations' yet. |

So far, only a 'System Restore' or the manual removal of the MSN update KB925902 seem do resolve this issue. This info is taken from a French Canadian forum such as this one.

I had the same problem. The solution can be found at the microsoft site. Go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935448 and download the 935448 package, run it and restart your computer. I have done this and it is ok now.
I hope I helped you. |

Just to add to this, here's a copy of a post in the XP newsgroups by TaurArian (MVP) that also addresses a fix or two:
QUOTE Vulnerabilities in GDI Could Allow Remote Code Execution (925902) http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/...n/ms07-017.mspx http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925902 Known issues After you install this security update on a Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)-based computer, Realtek HD Audio Control Panel (Rthdcpl.exe) may not start. Additionally, you receive an error message that is similar to the following: Rthdcpl.exe - Illegal System DLL Relocation The system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. The relocation occurred because the DLL C:\Windows\System32\Hhctrl.ocx occupied an address range reserved for Windows system DLLs. The vendor supplying the DLL should be contacted for a new DLL. Update for Windows XP (KB935448) Install this update to resolve an issue where the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel may not start after you install security update KB925902 (MS07-017) and security update KB928843 (MS07-008). http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en Supported Operating Systems: Windows XP Service Pack 2 link to the entire thread: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/expertz...p;cr=US&p=1 -------------------- - John
