BleepingComputer.com: Ie7 Crashing/hangsup Constantly

Hi,

I've been trying to find out why IE7 is freezing and crashing on me everytime I try and close out a browser window. I'm running WinXP, btw. I looked up some stuff on Microsoft Knowledge Base and I thought Article 909363 sorta described whats going on, if you want to look that up.
Problem is I can't install the hotfix for it because install says I'm already running the most current version of the file. I noticed it also locks up when certain browsers with applets or similar content are working.

It's driving me crazy and I can't close out any browser windows or even load certain pages because it will crash all instances of IE running.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this.

There could be two solutions :

If you know when you are starting to have these issues please go to a restore point prior to that or alternatively

Have a look thru here. According to all I have read this would solve your issues. IN order to be absolutely suure you have to create a restore point.

Since the hotfix doesn't apply for you, then I'd suspect that it was a corruption somewhere else in IE7.

Try reverting back to IE6 (uninstall IE7 in the Add/Remove Programs applet) and see if it still happens. If not, then re-install IE7 and give it a whirl again.

You gave me a suggestion for something dreadfully simple and it's solved my problems so far.
Basically instead of playing with IE 7 I changed browsers to Mozilla FireFox. Since I've been using it, the problem is gone.
