when i try to connect though my router it comes up with no connection or a ! symbol next to keyports what does this mean?

I have a Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Router.

the ! mean that you are not getting a network address from the router. Have a look at 2 things. 1 that the router is set as a DHCP server and 2 that you machine is set to receive a automatic IP address and not statically assigned.

cheers but since i flushed ip addresses away and renewed it it seem to be ok
