Disabling "wireless network detected' notification..

I would rather be able to have my laptop search for wireless networks and notify me about them only when I manually scan for them.

I am really tired of being notified about other wireless networks every 5 minutes.

Where is the setting for this? I have been through then network properties, TCP/IP properties, and what not and cannot seem to find what I want.
Cheers,

Adebisi

Here is a piece of code that will disable the balloon tips function. Stopping all annoying messages.

http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_balloontips.htm

Otherwise it is possible to change the registry yourself but be careful this can cause issues if you change or do the wrong thing.
Alway backup regestry before making a change.

Registry Settings
User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
Advanced]
Value Name: EnableBalloonTips
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)

If you go to start then run and type services.msc scroll down the list and look for wireless zero configuration. if you disable this service, it should stop the WZC tool from loading and displaying messages.

If you disable WZC and can't connect to the internet, reset the service to its original position.

Hope this helps
Regards,

Alan.
