My desktop looks just fine, very nice resolution, 1040x768. When I go online, everything looks like winndows is running in "safe" mode! Does'nt matter what page, Yahoo, MSN, any page! I can go back to my desktop and open any program, still 1040x768. Whats going on?? Tried changing display settings, no difference....
any help/

Go to Control Panel - Dispay - Settings tab
What is the Color Pallette set to?
If it is 16 or 256 colors thats the problem.
Set it to high color 16 bit and reboot even though Windows does not prompt you to do so.
In the beginning there was the command line.

Are you using Firefox?

I have had a few members with this problem and it was a result of a bad install.

Thank you Jitaa

What video card is this and how does device manager report it?

16 color or High color 16 bit? There is a big difference between the two
If it is not High Color 16 bit or True Color thats your problem, like I said.

Sometimes with 98 you have to drop the settings down first.
Try dropping the resolution down to 640 x 480 and the color to 16 color and reboot
Then adjust the color pallete to high color 16 bit or true color and reboot
then adjust the resolution back up to 1024 x 768
Dont try to adjust the color pallete and resolution at the same time. Do them separately rebooting after each step
98 was picky about that with some video cards
In the beginning there was the command line.
