WHAT is my age in the profile? Had no idea.

YAY someone else voted for red hot chili peppers

I'd expect someone to vote for Led Zeppelin since they are no 1 in the top 100

Well you had your birth date in your profile and I did the math. I see however that it's not there anymore!

Sublime was a pretty groovy band.

So is Nine Inch Nails.

Electric Light Orchestra really rocks.

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band has some great music.

The Gypsy Kings (Latin group) have a great flow to their music.

And who can leave out the Velcro Pygmies?! Best cover band I have ever seen!

Well, I'm a real oldies fan. I like Altramar. They play music initially composed between the 1200's and the 1600's. They come up with some really cool arrangements, and they use the old style instruments. I also like The Anonymous 4. They play stuff from the same time period.

While I don't see this one making it to my top ten , as I not big usually on string quartets , I could listen to this group I think.

OK there are two things you can mean when you say "What 'emo' ?"
1. You don't know what emo means
OR
2. You know what it means but do not agree with my previous statement and finds it amazing of what I consider emo, emo. e.g how can that be emo?

Heres the definition of emo found in urban dictionary if you don't know.

Quote

Normally a 15-17 year old teenager. Considers themselves to be much more in touch with their emotions than anyone else; whereas they really just feel sorry for themselves. Most emo's will claim to be depressed, or simply misunderstood. They think they are unique, and fail to realise that they actually look like half the teenage population of south england. You can recognise an emo by looking for these general characteristics:
SKINNY JEANS (both boys and girls) The tighter the better. If an emo can hardly walk because of their jeans, then they've reached optimum emo status.
STRIPEY JUMPERS. Normally black and grey. If you're a boy, this should again be worn as tightly as possible. Breathing comfortably is a luxury you may have to sacrifice.
TATTY CONVERSE. Usually drawn on, as most emo's regard themselves as artists.
BLACK LONG HAIR COVERING ONE SIDE OF YOUR FACE. Vision can be compromsised for style as an emo. Try and make it as greasy as possible.

Finally, emo's MUST look down on everyone else, accuse them of being uncreative, judgemental, and the sole cause of their 'depression'. If you're a hardcore emo you'll cut yourself occasionnally. If you're not, then you at least have to pretend you do.

It's also a music genre:

Quote

a) short for the term emotional...in a musical sense
:flowers: music derived in the 80's... with such bands as Rites of Spring, Texas is the Reason, and more.

I also read in urbandictionary, emo's are opposite to goths.

Quote

Emos Hate themselves
Goths hate Everyone
Emos Want to Kill themselves
Goths Want to kill Everyone

Most of they time emo's have a strand of purple hair with black hair, but I not 100% about that.

BTW this topic is goin great keep on visiting it and add to the discussion.

LOL I don't like emos, and Nirvana arent one of my fave bands...

But you're definition and source of "emo" isn't very accurate. Nirvana isn't emo, and I'm sick of people grouping music into one thing... (People call Tool emo... wtf?)

It's mostly mainstram followers or RHCP and other extremely popular bands that call anything and everything emo. Heck I do love RHCP... But damn... some fans are ignorant, not directed at you, but a few of my friends at school.

Anyways. Led Zeppelin are my fave band... In fact the BEST rock band EVER!!!

All of the bands in the list have at least three songs that are incredible (although I'm a little burned out with Nirvana, even though they put on a great show).

My vote was for the Beatles, because they have fantastic songwriting, have the most number of songs that I like, and I am never not in the mood for hearing them. :flowers: Favorite song: Hey Jude.
