Apple published eight patches for vulnerabilities in QuickTime for Windows and Mac OS X.

FrSIRT (French Security Incident Response Team) rated all the holes as "critical". All 8 flaws affected Windows Vista, Windows XP and Windows 2000. Seven of them affected Mac OS X version 10.3.9 and later.

The vulnerabilities target the way QuickTime handles files. Specially-crafted files allows attacker to crash the application, then remotely install and execute malicious software. "If you use QuickTime I would definitely recommend that you install the update as soon as possible" – said Bojan Zdrnja from SANS.

Reports like this one gives me more confirmation that QuickTime and other softwares I've uninstalled, was for a very good reason, and the proof keeps on coming out. All the basic programs: QuickTime, Windows Media Player, iTunes, and RealPlayer.... are all banned products on my computers.
