I've been hearing many great things about NOD32, that it uses the fewest resources and protects the most out of all of the anti-virus programs out there.
I'm running AVG 7.5 free right now, and my computer seems to be fine. I have the Windows Firewall and a router firewall, along with Firefox with security extensions for safer browsing.
So even though everything seems to be ok, should I make the switch, or just wait till AVG gets stumped?

There is an old saying here at BC which says : If it ain't broken, don't fix it
AVG Free is recommended overhere because of it's interface. basicly there are as many opinions as there are antivirus programs. You mentioned that you are using the windows firewall which is only "half a protection " I use , in cojunction with AVG Free, Zone Alarm firewall ( see my sig) and it has kept me clean.By using Zone Alarm you can shut down your router firewall and windows since it is already a bad idea to run 2 firewalls
