First I have to say I am a new member! I am so happy to have found this website!
well, Here goes!
I got this error msg on my computer: the application or DLL C:\windows\system32\dxtrans.dll is not a valid window image. Please check this against your installation deskette.

I have also seen: System restore rstrui.exe

I am clueless to what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much,

Tone21

That file is part of directx. You may want to goto www.microsoft.com/directx and download and install the latest verion.

Also run some virus scans in case something is infecting the files:

Please run two online virus scans:

http://housecall.antivirus.com/
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/

Then let us know if its working better and what the scans found.

As Grinler said, run some AV and malware scans

If, in fact, you have Microsoft Games for Windows Live installed and this is not a malware item...I would just do the uninstall/reinstall routine for MGWL. Chances are a key file for that program is damaged and needs to be replaced.
