I already have an MS-DOS Startup disc using XP on my pc.
Can I use this like the instructions say or do you think I should get another from bootdisk.com
Below is what you are told to type by the word document from the winrar file. Below that is the line which you wrote, they are slightly different with their version having a space after test>. Will this make a difference?
C: <enter>
cd\test <enter>
C:\test> awdfl783m BIOS file
C:\test>awdfl783m W6330vms.350

Your right. The way they write it is wrong in Dos though. Just tried a ping command in Dos with the space so it might work either way. If one doesn't go the other the other will. No biggie.
I wouldn't use the XP disk as that is a VERY limited version of Dos. The readme says to use a Win98 boot disk and I would go with that.
Without going into a big explanation about Dos the XP one might not find C:\test. You need a path. By default the Path with the W98 disk is A:\;C:\;C:\Windows;C:\Windows\Command. So when you type C:\test>awdfl783m W6330vms.350, the 98 Dos will look in those places. When you boot and get to A:\> type path and press enter and you'll see what I mean.
Good luck.

Booted from the disc and venetullay afer spouting a load of stuff in dos about bananas or something the A:\ icon came up. When I typed in the C:\ nothing happened just told me that the command was wrong. Tried a few combinations of C and then the whole flash command but nothing happened.
Shoudl I try saving the flash bios files to a disc and try changing the bios from the floppy drive like you origionally suggested?

A:\>C: <enter>
C:\>cd test <enter>
C:\test>awdfl783m W6330vms.350
If that doesn't work, don't reboot just stay right there and do this:
A:\>path=C:\
A:\>C: <enter>
C:\>cd test <enter>
C:\test>awdfl783m W6330vms.350
You could go into Windows Explorer and drag awdfl783m and W6330vms.350 to a blank formatted floppy, boot with Banana, switch the floppies to the awdfl783m W6330vms.350 one and type:
A:\>awdfl783m W6330vms.350
Any of those should work.

Followed the insturctions and crossed my fingers.
I'm pretty sure everything went as it should.
The drive problem is still there though.
The drives seem to work propperly after you have just booted using the 98 disc, but then when you then come back later and start the system normally then the problem has reappeared.
I am considering running the 98 disc, then the system might allow me to run the automatic bios driver update programme from the MSI website as it should be able to format the disc in the floppy drive.
Do you think this might be worth a go.

Which 98 disc are you refering to? If you mean the boot disk then we have a solution, I think.
Try this. Boot with the boot disk and when you get to A:\> type in win and press enter. You will boot into Windows. Try the drives and post back the results.
BTW, it sounds like you have successfully flashed the Bios. Congratulations!

Tried as many combinations of win or windows as I can think of but nothing seems to do anything so far.

It needs to be typed exactly like that. Then type win at A:\> it takes a minute or two to get there. Then try the drives and let me know.

We made the drives work properly after loading the basic files from the boot disks so I'm sure your problem lies with one of them. One of them is corrupted.
Boot with the boot disk and at A:\> type in sys /c: like this:
A:\>sys /C:
Reboot and try your dives again.
There is only one space in that line. The only way you can screw up the other commands is with spaces.
