Running Disk Defragmenter in Windows XP



Guide Overview

The purpose of this guide is to teach you how to run the Disk Defragmenter tool in Windows XP

Tools Needed
  • Windows XP Disk Defragmenter
Instructions
  1. Double-Click on the My Computer icon on the desktop.
    (It can also be found under the Start Menu.)
  2. Right-Click on the Local Disk(C:).
  3. Click Properties.
  4. Click the Tools tab.
  5. Click the Defragment Now... button.
  6. Select your drive.
  7. Click the Defragment button. Note: The Defragmentation process may take a considerable amount of time to complete.
  8. After the Defragmentation has completed, click on the Close button.
