Trying to help a fellow Dutchman here.. I have been going through the HJT log and one of the remarks were that you did not have your windows updated? Did you do that in between?

Do you have a big archive of emails saved with big attachments?

haha, thanks...
Normally my updater should work by itself, manual search for any updates gave me:
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
and some optional updates, drivers etc. IE7 was one of the updates... so i decided to download it. I dont think it can do much harm

Not too much but I'll download it asap.
I will backup outlook after lunch. I'll let you know how that went...

Done, I made a backup of outlook.pst and archive.pst

Can what is the correct way of getting a 'clean' outlook: remove first outlook, then the .pst files and then install.
Or can I just remove the .pst files any time I like?

add:
After install of all updates I started outlook again. I made 2 screenies: 1 before startup of Outlook, 2 on the second Outlook was gonna start.
Hope this might help...

Looking at the pictures something is hogging your outlook terribly. How large were those backup files you made?

archive and outlook were respectively 77.120 and 59.920 kb

dunno whether that point is meant as decimal or thousend though...

Edit:
they are respectively 75.3 and 58.2 MB on drive... quite big I think, but still, on one of your tutorials they say it can get over 1 gig

Have you tried running pstscan?
You'll find it in C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033\scanpst.exe
Fixes a lot of Outlook problems. Its also known as inbox repair tool...

Nvm it...
I got pressured to delete the whole lot.

Made a boot, spend alot of time on installing and updating all my programs and now everything looks fine.

Still, there is one thing you can help me with:
I suspect that after the boot, it didn't delete all files. but kept them out of sight.
The maximum of my c drive is now according to the display 56 Gigs, however, I think all my old programs are still out there, somewhere. This because, if I recall correctly. my HD was bigger than 56...
Is there a way for my to confirm this and then delete? (My first thought was using a linux based program to check the drive, any ideas?)

Ow, one minor thing.
The backup I made from Outlook, which (according to pstscan) was safe, can I put that back on Outlook without to much risk you'd think?
