ok, so yesterday my sounds just died. it made the beep thing and thats it. i was trying to play a song on winamp and it said

Bad DirectSound driver. Please install proper drivers or select another device in configuration.
Error Code: 88780078

I dont know what to do.

I have everything i need. right before it did that, i deleted some programs i never used, mainly games and stuff. nothing like a soundriver buuuttttt a few months ago i deleted my sound driver and i downloaded one from someone else. it worked for a while but idk what to do now. I have searched around for answers and nothing seems to be working.

i noticed on this page, someone said theyre sound died. i searched evntvwr and it says i dont have that so idk.

Please help.

Try this

" had the same problem today.. i went in to the options sectionand under plugins, in th output area i saw the out_ds.dll file was there.. you have the ability to change the properties of the specified dll.. after looking thru the options, i found that it had changed my soundcard setting, from my soundcard to a generic name.. i switched it back to my soundcard and got no problems..
