I am building a new computer and have run into a road block. It will not boot. Right now I have the mobo out of the case, the only connected to it is power supply, CPU, fan, 1 stick of RAM, and video card. Turn it on and fans start, my monitor light turns solid for about 3 seconds and then it clicks off. The fans continue to run. It does not matter whether the RAM is in or not, I get the same result. It does not matter if the CPU is in or not, I get the same result. Unfortunately I am unable to swap parts as I don't have any spares of CPU, mobo or RAM that are compatable as these components are fairly leading edge and none of my computers have these capabilites. I have obtained an RMA number for returning the mobo, but before I actually shipped it back I thought I would ask with ya'll what your opinion is. Oh, and I have a power supply tester and all is well with the power supply. LINKS: CPU RAM MOBO -------------------- ALBERT FRANKENSTEIN

Too bad you have no spare parts around. They could really help in finding the faulty part. Make sure you have a motherboard speaker plugged in and listen to the bios beep codes (if you can). The beep codes can usually point to exactly what is wrong.
Good luck. |
