MsMpEng.exe uses 5,272K on one system and 15,548K on another. Why? I uninstalled it on the 15,548K system because I figured something was wrong. Any ideas?

On the system that uses 15,548K, I was using the latest version available of WD.

On the other system, I'm not really sure (not home now). I thought having "windows live update" enabled would keep WD up to date. Is this not true?

Anyway, the difference in configurations:

Both have 1MB of RAM
Both are running XP Media Center

One has an Athlon 64 CPU, the other has an Athlon 64 X2 CPU.

Memory usage will vary. This is normal. MsMpEng.exe uses 8,044K on my system. The usage will increase when Defender is performing a scan. OneCare will automatically scan the file as well because it is an "on access" background scanner.

If your computer performance is not significantly hampered by high CPU usage, then don't worry about the differences in memory usage.
