"Anisakiasis is a common disease in countrieswhere raw fish is part of the usuall diet, as inJapan, The Netherlands and Spain. However, cases of anisakiasis are also accumulating in therest of the world by interchange of eating habits.Depending on the level of gastrointestinal tractwhere the larvae penetrate the mucosa, human an-isakiasis can present several clinical pictures.Acute gastric anisakiasis is the most frequent clini-cal entity. The patients feel epigastric pain, nauseaand vomiting typically within 12 hours after in-gestion of parasitized fish. Intestinal forms maymimic intestinal obstruction, acute appendicitis, ileitis, eosinophilic gastroenteritis, or peritonitisand perforation which need urgent treatment. Theparasite may also act as an allergen able to induceIgE mediated reactions, with several clinical mani-festations different from those of local anisakido-sis which are characterized by hypersensitivity re-actions such as urticaria, angioedema or severeanaphylactic reactions. We report one case of acute abdomen after in-gestion of undercooked and raw fish. Our patienthad a local intestinal reaction, to parasite which fi-nally produced intestinal perforation"Unquote.

If you go to better sushi restaurants you wont get this. I know people who eat sushi all the time for years and never had problems. All foods contain risks of some sort if they not prepared properly.

You are right in what you say. When I go to my wife's parent's home in Austria, her father deliberately sits in front of me and eats Rollmops ( Pickled raw fish) straight out of the bottle, until I have to go out of the room. w00t.gif

I don't know the correct preparation procedure nor can I witness the preparation from go to wo, so I think I'll give it a miss. You all enjoy thumbup2.gif

I also read where undercooked pork is also a BIG risk.

G-d told me not to eat shrimp or Microsoft. Only fish with scales may be eaten; only Linux, OSs that have split hooves and chew the cud.

I never feel bored in America. It enslaved some of my ancestors; it is now trying to enslave everyone.

I'm out of coffee beans.

My coffee maker died on me. ohmy.gif Must purchase a new one soon. Instant coffee... blech!
And sushi never had it. May try it sometime. IDK. That picture is cool though, very crative.

I suggest that you get a French press coffee maker; it makes the best coffee and easier. I like beans, which I grind with a manual grinder (it has been in the family for four generations), because you get a fresher taste. The French press does not burn the coffee. Never reheat coffee; get a good thermos. Ask a construction worker which ones are best. I use an Aladdin Stanley.

I will eat veggie sushi. I don't eat raw meat, fowl, or fish.

Coffee is my favorite drug. If crazy folk in America make it illegal, I will become the biggest drug dealer in the country!
