I'm needing some help, please.
The new games were great christmas gifts, but I'm disappointed.
For some reason the cd-rom isn't being identified.
It no longer auto plays.
I went to My Computer, first it showed both drives, but nothing in them.
I restarted the PC and next thing is, they were not even showing.
Restarted again, they were back, but nothing appears to be in them.
Now all I get is the message, "no disk in drive".
I tried a home-burned cd, same thing.
I checked the device manager. It shows both drives.
HL-DT-ST CD-ROM GSR-8483B
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B
The DVD hasn't worked in a year, and the computer shop couldn't fix it.
It never caused any problems with the cd drive, though.
I opened it up and unplugged the drive, then restarted, it showed no drive at device manager
like it should. then plugged it back in again and restarted.
No "found new hardware" message, but at least it was back on the list.
Still no autoplay.
Still I can't play.

Right-click on the cd drive and select Properties, then click on the AutoPlay tab. From there, you can set it to autoplay your cd's.

The next thing you will need to do is goto the Device Manager, highlight your burner, then delete it from the list. Reboot your computer, and Windows should detect it. Now just install your software for it.
