My son brought his Dell home from college for the Christmas break. He was able to connect to the internet here this summer and he was able to connect to the school network yesterday before he left school. But he is unable to connect to the internet here at home. We've run Hijack this...no problems. We've run winsock fix...still no luck. We're not sure what, if anything, the network at school has put on his computer that now prevents him from connecting here.

Two other computers in the house connect through his modem/router via wireless and have no problems.

Any suggests would be greatly appreciated!

Potentialy there is a lock from the administrator to go on the internet only via the school server. How do you make a connection thru utp cable or wireless. Did you do the wizzard network with the schoolcomputer?

Try.. Start> Run> cmd> ipconfig /release. When the prompt reappears type in ipconfig /renew.

Thank you for your replies. We discovered (with help from a Cablevision tech...go figure!) that the router wasn't recognizing his computer. After powering everything down and restarting he is now able to get online. Thanks again!
