I noticed that when I installed iTunes, QuickTime came with it.
I hate QuickTime and I hate how it'll open some videos in a seperate QuickTime browser window, even though I've disabled it as the default player to play videos and all that.
So I uninstalled QuickTime last night. I haven't used iTunes yet, but will it work normally without QuickTime?

Quicktime And Itunes

It should work fine. Itunes is it's own program, and doesn't rely on Quicktime to be able to function. Sort of like how Image Ready comes with Adobe Photoshop, but Image Ready isn't required in order to operate Photoshop....or how when you download things (like Adobe Acrobat Reader) it'll also download the Yahoo toolbar (but there's an option to not download/install it I believe). You should be fine not having quicktime installed on your machine, although there are some videos that are made specifically for Quicktime, and can only be viewed in Quicktime, and TBH, I'm not sure if Itunes has the capability to play video (assuming that you have videos on an MP3 player, or that you download videos from a Mac related site).
Hope this helps!

Uh oh. I tried to open iTunes, but it said to install again because QuickTime was not found. Oh well.
Darn QuickTime.
Darn QuickTime.

That's very odd, but not suprising......I've never cared for Quicktime (or Itunes), as they tend to "take over" ones computer.
You can reinstall quick time, and after it's installed, go to Start>Run and type in "MSCONFIG" (without the quotes). Click on the Startup tab, and find the line that says "qttask" and uncheck the box immediately to it's left. You can also do the same for the line "iTunesHelper". This will prevent the two programs from starting when windows starts (when you restart your computer).
If you don't see these 2 items after you install them, try restarting your computer.
Hope this helps!
