hey everyone
so i just bought half life anthology today, and i cant install it... it doesnt seem to make any sense...
first off, i try to install steam... i get to the screen where it asks which folder i would like to install steam into... i click next, and then a small message window pops up that has a button that says "OK"...
if i click it, nothing happens except that that message window disappears... but i am still at that same installation screen where it asks me which folder i want as the destination folder for steam... it doesnt matter how many times i click ok, nothing happens...
i downloaded steam online, and it installed perfectly... then i tried to install half life and the same problem happens... when i am at the screen in half life installation where it asks which features i want to include in the installation, i click next, and that same message window pops up...
what is going on here?!?

as long as you have your registration keys and your account name/ password you have all your games, so uninstall and reinstall steam and then try installing anthology

hey... thanks for the tips...
unfortunately, it doesnt make a difference if i try to install it again...
the problem is that i cant even install steam off of the CD (but i can if i download it online), so i dont think that the problem is a corrupted installation file.
i tried to install steam and halflife on my friend's laptop which is less powerful than my comp, and it worked with no problems... so theres nothing wrong with the CD... it seems to be a problem with my comp.
i ran several antivirus programs (panda, ad aware, spybot, etc), and my computer is clean... i restarted it, and the same problem comes up.
any ideas?

Well your suppose to get steam off of the website http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php? I believe thats what I did when I got Half-Life 2. Then you install the game, if the game won't install, open Steam then click Activate a product on Steam then you type in the CD activation code. Steam will then verify that the code is correct then all the games that come with
Half-Life 2 Anthology will be put on your account then you can just download the games from the servers.

actually, there was simply some problem with my firewall... i use sunbelt firewall, and i guess it wasnt allowing me to install the program... i disabled it and it installed no problem...
its weird though, cause it didnt even give me a message window saying it was going to prevent its installation
oh well... hope it helps someone else in the same situation

Thanks for taking the time to report what the solution to your problem was, since as you indicate, it might help another person with the same or a similar problem.
