during games like cs if your ping is high then its a bad internet connection. so if its lower it won't lag.

Are you talking about the time it takes for a ping to respond. As this is a pure connection speed thing. the faster connection the faster the ping responce time. If you are doing internet gaming then check your Broadband speed using a Online speed tester and that will show you the connecion speed you are getting to the internet. If this is responding slowly then talk to your ISP and see if it below the connecion speed you are paying for.

Ping cant be tweeked to be quicker as this is the simplest form of comunication. It is used to test if there is a connection and how quick the reply is. If the time responce back from the ping is too long then you will need to find out where the bottle neck in the network is. It could be at you local end if there are alot of PC's connecting to the network and Internet. Or it could be the Internet itself. Try pinging your router and see how fast the reply is. This will check to see if the bottleneck is at your end.

That looks like it is a good connection. Ty a ping loaclly to your Router and then try pinging the cs server and post what the speed differances are.

Try TCPOptimizer and the CableNut tweaks to see if you can get a better connection - they've helped with some folks. Be sure to backup your old settings first - in case the tweaks tank your connection.

why only some folks?

sometimes the ping rate it 500 and sometimes it's 90.

Because the path from your PC to the internet is full of bumps - and you can only control the part that comes out of your PC.

It's like the freeway - it's great when no one's on it, but once the traffic builds up you'll slow down a lot.

Also, each different connection that you get is affected by the path it takes - and each path is not necessarily equal to any other path. Try running a tracert to your game server - look at all the connections that it makes to get there. Any one of them can have problems, and even without problems, traffic on any one can slow you down immensely.

Well, first of all i hope someone reads this and tells me what the f**k is wrong, i did a speed test the same site as that guy, and it showed i have an average download of 2500 and upload of 950 (not bad, eh?) and my latency (aka ping) is 44 but when i log on to half life 2 server it shows a starting ping of 250 and grows to 750, i don't understand what is wrong because my connection is very good. please someone reply, realy plzzzzzzz.

Internet providers are cheap. We pay for 256kps and only get 30kps. It's the internet providers fault you can never get the speed you pay for. I think it's something to do with the wires that send out info from some sort of system that hooks everyone up to the internet.
