Now my question even if i set a restore point manually, make back-ups with the RegSeekers own Backup folder and remove these entries only after trying with one such entry just to be on the safe side to see if the back-up really works, which ones should i junk and which ones do i keep?? Also is it true that you should not junk unused file extensions for you never know when you might need them. PLEASE HELP?

Registry cleaners mark entries as bad, depending on what the software creator thinks is bad.
That's why no 2 cleaners will find all of the same "problems".
Registry "problems" actually have very little effect on the overall performance of the operating system.
If you're not experienced with working in the registry, and judging by the questions, you're not, DO NOT ATTEMPT IT.
Improper changes to the registry could render your computer inoperable.
Remember to backup the registry before making any changes.
Instructions, on how to do that, can be found here:
How to back up, edit, and restore the registry

update it. Under options advanced you will see something like " create a backup of the register ? " tick that.
Start Ccleaner klick on problems and tick everything with the register and start analyzing. After it is finished you will get a default question whether you want to make a backup. As a default it will be stored in " My Documents " . If smething goes terribly wrong you can, by double klicking , reinstall this backup.

A better option would be to use a program like Total Uninstall, to monitor the installation of new programs.
Then use it, when it comes time to uninstall the program.
It will remove all of the registry entries associated with the program.
In most instances, it will do a better job of uninstalling the program, than the programs uninstaller, or Add/Remove.
